Portugal
and Germany ahead of a diplomatic incident - the leftist Portuguese
government has angrily responded to comments by German Finance
Minister Wolfgang Schäuble (CDU) reacts over their budget deficits.
As was
informed afterwards on Friday of insiders, the government in Lisbon
the German Ambassador Ulrich Brandenburg called on June 30 to the
Lisbon Foreign Ministry to protest against remarks by German Finance
by the end of June. Schäuble had said in Berlin, Portugal will need
a new tool, if it does not hold on specifications and agreements.
The
Portuguese Finance Ministry clarified after Schaeuble remarks, a new
utility will “not considered”. Portuguese Foreign Minister
Augusto Santos Silva said the weekly “Expresso”, his government
regarded the remarks by German Finance as “unjust and unfriendly”.

The Foreign
Ministry in Lisbon said Friday, before the Portuguese ambassador in
